Cellulite: Causes, Prevention & How to Get Rid of Them

WHAT IS CELLULITE?

Cellulite is a formation of lumps and dimples appearance in the skin.  Formation of cellulite is more common to women compared to men because of cell structure including fat cells, muscle and connective tissue. The top layer of skin which smooth and flat surface will be affected by the formation of cellulite which uneven indents and dimples and making it look unattractive.

Research has found cellulite appearance is mostly located on hips, thighs and buttocks. As the connective tissue in the skin been push by fat deposits, the appearance of lumpiness became visible. The condition of connective tissue is obvious from the outside and more appear like orange peel skin or cottage cheese layer. Cellulitis is a different condition of skin from cellulite. Cellulitis is a bacterial infection of the deeper layers of the skin. This infection can be serious if its not be treated immediately and can be life-threatening if spread deeper into body system.  Early prevention by taking antibiotics prescribed by the doctor is usually successful. It may affect any part of the body especially in lower part of the body like leg.

WHAT CAUSES CELLULITE?

The doctors and scientists are yet to figure out what actually causes cellulite. However, we found a link between the fat layers and the skin layer beneath it.  For women, cellulites are mostly found in the buttock area, or the thigh area. While for men, the chances are less compared to women because of the criss-cross structure tissue.

When women start to approach menopause stage, the estrogen level start decreasing, thus blood flow to the connective tissue under the skin also decreases. Collagen plays an important role in the skin tissue where it provides your skin with structure and strengthening your bones.  Less in oxygen circulation also affected collagen production and estrogen level resulting in enlarge fat cells.

Your skin will start to sag, less elastic and thinner throughout aging process which increases the chance of cellulite to develop on your skin. Human metabolism, fat distribution under the skin, ethnicity and circulatory levels are directly relatable to genetic factors which affect the chance of cellulite development.

Balance dietary and healthy lifestyle may help reduce the appearance of cellulite. Unbalanced diet like eat too much fat, carbohydrates and salt may contribute to formation of cellulite. Slim figure doesn’t guaranty from having cellulite on your body because cellulite is more prevalent in people who have excess fat.

Cellulite deposits cause the skin to look dimpled and bumpy. The lumpy appearance on the skin can be found in particular, on the hips, thighs, and buttocks. For women they also tend got cellulite around knees, stomach, triceps areas and saddlebags because existence of three layers of fat in these areas.
