Electrocautery (EC) Treatment

Electrocautery is a wart, skin tags, milia seeds and mole removal technique using an electrical current. This technique is safe, effective and can remove the tissues immediately. It also limits the loss of blood and further infections. 

Electrocautery is not painful, as the doctor will numb the areas before the treatment. The feeling after the treatment is also very tolerable.

Electrocautery sends an electrical charge through the skin, damaging the wart, mole, skin tags, milia seeds connective tissues. This would cut them right out of the skin without bleeding. 

Electrocautery is a more preferred wart/ milia seeds/ skin tag/ mole removal technique as it is less painful and leaves minimal scarring compared to other techniques. 

Before the procedure, the doctor will perform localised anesthesia to the areas that are going to be treated. So, you would not feel anything throughout the procedure.

Wart Removal 

Warts are abnormal skin growth that usually are round in size. They are rough to the touch, and of different color than our normal skin. Warts can also be caused by virus such as human papillomavirus (HPV) which is transmitted by sexual contact. There are two types of warts: infectious and non-infectious. The infectious is contagious if someone is infected by a blood drop. Therefore, we take very serious care in wart removal processes. 

Both types of warts have the potential to grow back after the removal. 

Skin Mole Removal 

Moles are usually black or brown in colour. Sometimes, they even have hair growing out of it. Moles doesn’t necessarily cause you any harm. But it does create discomfort or uneasiness if it grows in unwanted areas or the size is too big. 

Removing moles can be easily done with using electrocautery. Electrocautery cut off the moles from the skin surface, which then are healed normally. Moles that are removed will not grow back. If they do, then it is not moles. Our doctors will advise further. 

Milia Seeds Removal 

Milia seeds are the abnormal, yellowish-whitish skin growth that normally appear on the upper face areas. They are the build-up of dead skin cells that clogged our pores.

Electrocautery can remove milia seeds very easily without having to have a long downtime. 

Skin Tags Removal 

Also known as acrochordon, skin tags usually grow in groins, neck, armpit and face. Their size is small, just like a grain of rice. Although they do not cause any pain, it is deemed unsightly and having it can cause you discomfort. 

Electrocautery is also a great skin tags removal treatment. By doing electrocautery, our doctors can help you remove skin tags completely. Skin tag doesn’t usually grow back.

Electrocautery is known to leave some side effects like: 

Scarring : As the skin growth is removed from the skin, there will be a minimal lesion for the skin opening. Over time, this will develop into a scar. 

Swelling & Redness : Electrocautery will cause a minor inflammation to the skin due to the heat. This will cause the skin to have some redness and swelling after the procedure but this is very normal.

Electrocautery is a non-surgical treatment thus it cuts a lot of the high risks. There is little to no downtime for electrocautery although you may experience redness over the areas. You may resume your normal routine as usual after the treatment.

The cost for electrocautery to remove skin growth is depending on the matter itself. 

For wart removal, the cost depends on the location of the wart itself. As warts are mostly contagious, special tender and care needed to be used in order to reduce the risks. For private areas and eyes areas, we charge RM 800 – RM 1,500 per lesion depending on size. Whereas, for other areas, the cost is much cheaper from only RM500 per lesion. In the market, the cost of removing warts using electrocautery is RM 450 per lesion. 

Whereas, for moles, skin tags and milia seeds, the price starts from RM 300 per lesion. The price may vary depending on the size of the skin growth. You may discuss with the doctor your budget and we will see what we can do to help.
