Melasma

Melasma occurs when melanocytes are stimulated, melanin is produced in large quantities which groups together in patches on the skin, oftentimes on the face. Women are more at risk of developing melasma, with men only accounting for 10% of all affected individuals. Triggers that have been identified include overexposure to the sun, hormonal changes and selected beauty products that cause skin irritation.

Pregnant women are also prone to contracting melasma, also referred to as a pregnancy mask. There is an increase in hormones that trigger melanocytes in the second and third trimesters, but it is believed that high levels of progesterone cause melasma as opposed to oestrogen – a view backed by clinical studies.

Pigmentation & Age Spot

Tattoo Removal

The treatment minimises scarring as the laser preserves the surrounding skin and focuses its light energy only on the tattoo ink, breaking it up and leaving it to be removed by your body’s natural cleansing process.

Repeated treatments over a period of several weeks are recommended and usually needed for good results. On average, there will be up to a 90-95% reduction of your tattoo’s appearance and almost all colours can be removed except certain shades of yellow and green. Tattoos that are smaller in size require fewer pulses to larger tattoos, but in both cases you should see a gradual improvement in your tattoo and it will appear lighter after each subsequent session.

All tattoos are unique and thus removal must be tailored specifically for each tattoo. As mentioned earlier, green and yellow shades are harder to remove and thus must be considered before selecting this treatment. Pores & Texture

You may experience mild skin redness but this is temporary and should subside naturally within 30 minutes.
