WHAT CAUSES DULL SKIN?
The most common cause of dull skin is the lack of sleep – a common occurrence for individuals living hectic lives in the city. It can lead to the formation of dark eye circles, eye bags or even early wrinkling. Dust and pollution can also settle on the skin to give it a dull appearance, while overexposure to the sun may also affect your skin in the long run. Not cleansing skin properly as well can result in dull skin, as the layers of dirt remaining make it difficult for the pores to breathe.
HOW CHEMICAL PEEL WORKS?
Suitable for men and women of all ages, skin peel is also known as chemical peel and is used to remove the top layers of the skin. This is achieved with a peeling solution that causes skin to peel off naturally. Helping to remove the dead skin cells on the surface, this then reveals the layer of skin underneath which is typically healthier and smoother than previous layers.
Premier Clinic uses a trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peel, which is one of the original peels used for skin rejuvenation but other types are available to suit your skin’s needs.
During the initial application, a burning sensation will be experienced as the solution begins to induce skin peeling. A cooling device that blows out cool air will be held over your face to considerably reduce the sting. Upon completion of the procedure, cold compresses will be applied to help cool the skin.
The intensity and effects of the peel can also be increased by applying several layers of the selected solution, but this is dependent on your skin’s situation and desired results. Regardless of the peel used, gradual improvements should be apparent after each session.
CHEMICAL PEEL – POST TREATMENT
2-4 peels are the recommended norm for most individuals but this may vary depending on the skin condition and desired results. Your doctor will help to guide and advise you on a suitable number of treatments in order to get the good results possible, with each treatment spaced 4 weeks apart. You should also minimise any sun exposure and apply sunscreen lotion. Use a moisturiser at least twice a day.
