Thread Lift: Non-surgical Skin Lift

Thread facelift is a non-surgical face lifting treatment and is an alternative option for individuals who do not want or are concerned about face lifting surgery. Fine threads are advanced along pre-marked contours to help lift the skin. These threads have fine filaments that become fixed to the tissue. It then will trigger the production of fresh collagen, which surrounds each filament and creates a subtle yet effective lift. The results are long term and may last for up to 1-2 years after the procedure is complete. 

In addition, the effect of lifting and firming caused by the thread lift will be noticeable almost immediately.

Absorbable PDO (Polydioxanone) will be inserted by your doctor into the treatment area for an optimum lifting effect. Nets will be formed between several threads, which promote and stimulate collagen production in your skin, as the tissue slowly absorbed the threads over the next 6 to 8 months. This also reduces signs of aging, while the complexion of your skin will start to improve. After treatment, you should notice the gradual formation of a V- shape while your skin becomes firmer due to the increase in collagen production.

Collagen and elastin are proteins naturally produced by the body – it binds skin together, keeping it elastic and smooth. As you get older, the production of these two proteins decreases, resulting in skin that is less plump and elastic. This means that skin loses its ability to snap back into place, thus the effects of gravity will be more noticeable to the naked eye since the skin structure is not as strong as it once was. The thread lift also serves as a sagging skin treatment to create a lifting and tightening effect on underlying muscles. Wrinkles / Fine lines

Creases and ridges develop in the skin as you get older, resulting in the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. You may experience a prickling sensation which is similar to acupuncture needling but this is not painful, and any redness or bruising that occurs will subside in a few days. Do avoid doing the heavy lifting and strenuous exercise for 2 to 3 weeks.

There are minimal number of cases of side effects on this procedure and it hardly happens. The face has a very complex anatomical structure. Some side effects like infection, the formation of nodules and damage to salivary duct are possible but rarely happened.  

Certain cases have noted rare migration or even total extrusion of the sutures, causing an unbalanced facial appearance.
