Celebrity Chef Eye Milia Treatment

Premier Clinic recently was visited by celebrity chef Nicholas Pillai, author of cook books and instructor for cooking classes. Nicholas was keen to have some oil seeds removed under his eyes. Also known as milia, oil seeds tend to appear as one gets older. A genetic predisposition is also one of the risk factors for developing eye oil seeds.

Oil seeds are benign, meaning they are actually harmless and do not cause any adverse effects. They are non-cancerous growth and can just be left alone if one desires. However, many people prefer to have them removed as they tend to be unsightly.

For cosmetic reasons, removal of oil seeds are very common and several methods can be employed. These include electrocautery, application of liquid nitrogen or cryosurgery and application of caustic chemicals. These methods tend to be cumbersome, painful and produce scarring.

Nowadays, people tend to go for laser excision, such as using the CO2 laser or Erbium YAG laser.

Nicholas was attended to by Dr Elaine of Premier Clinic and Erbium YAG laser was used to remove his milia, for the sole reason that the end results are better and causes less scarring. The procedure is simple and less time consuming. Numbing cream is used before the procedure commences to minimize any potential discomfort.

Fotona Skin Tightening & Lifting Demo

Dr Elaine Chong of Premier Clinic Bangsar recently performed a demo session of Fotona Spectro skin tightening and lifting on Mr Khairol on 31 October 2014.

Both men and women undergo the aging process. As we age, our skin becomes loose and sag. Wrinkles and lines form. Jowls develop around the jawline and chin.

A facelift surgery can certainly help to tighten things up, with good results to boot. But not everyone are willing to undergo the pain, swelling, bruising and potential scarring and infection risk of a major surgical procedure. There are also risks of general anesthesia as well to contend with.

A safer,  easier and less complicated alternative would be to use a Long Pulse Nd:YAG laser such as Fotona Spectro and Candela GentleYag to give good skin tightening without the dangers and hassles of facelift operation.

Six Clients for our Skin Resurfacing Laser Demo

Active pimples are an annoyance to most teenagers and young adults. And not only that, acne tends to leave unsightly pockmarks and icepick scars on the face which persists for the entire life.

Acne can be treated with the right combination of oral antibiotics and anti-acne creams, besides the use of good quality ance-specific skincare and proper facial hygiene.

Unfortunately, many Malaysians do not get their acne treated early and aggressively enough, leaving nasty scars which mars their beauty and good looks.

Fortunately for us, aesthetic clinics such as Premier Clinic in Bangsar and Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur offers laser treatment to reduce the appearance of unsightly acne scars. Whilst any doctors and clinics cannot promise that there would be perfect results with complete resolution of the acne scars, many doctors can at least say there would be some degree of improvement, the results which differ from individual to individual. How much your acne scar improves depend on a big variety of factors, including your genetics, your age and your lifestyle.

Premier Clinic’s Dr Elaine Chong, Dr Aarthi Maria and Dr Kee Yong Seng attended to a number of volunteers including Miss Lily, Mr Roy, Khairul, Jin Ong and Nizar who had their acne scars and irregular skin surface treated with our latest Fotona Spectro laser. The laser fires multiple Fractional Erbium YAG laser beams to cover the entire face inclusive of the areas with acne scar to stimulate collagen production. This in turn helps to even out acne scars and irregular skin texture and large pores over time. 6 sessions are recommended for better results, performed once every month.

Demo on Skin Resurfacing & Refining Laser

Skin resurfacing and skin refining lasers are wonderful choices for people who have to bear with acne scars, irregular and rough skin surfaces and those with fine lines, wrinkles and large pore sizes. A Fractional CO2 laser or Fractional Erbium Laser works by creating very tiny columns of high energy light which ablates the top layers of the skin. This in turn stimulates the body to repair the skin and create more collagen. The end result is lesser wrinkles as collagen helps with lifting and tightening up the skin.

Acne scars are smoothened away after several sessions. A session can be performed once a month. Numbing cream is used to give more comfort during the 5 minutes procedure.

Pictured here is Dr Elaine Chong, Premier Clinic’s aesthetic doctor who performed a demo session on our volunteers Mr Mustafa and Miss Dya at our Bangsar branch.

Dermal Fillers Workshop for Improving Eye Appearance

Dr Kee Yong Seng, aesthetic physician of Premier Clinic, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur, was invited to attend a talk and workshop on Teosyal dermal fillers for improving the appearance of the eyes. The workshop was held at Sunway Medical Centre on 1 October 2014.

The talk focused on how aesthetic doctors such as Dr Kee can use hyaluronic acid dermal fillers to improve tear troughs which is a sunken appearance under the eyes, and to help hide the appearance of eye bags. The dermal fillers can be used to fill up any sunken areas which can make a person look tired or lacking sleep. Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers hydate the treated area, thus helping to alleviate the appearance of dark eye circles.

Deformities over the eye region, called the periorbital region, can be corrected with dermal fillers. However, attempts at treating this sensitive area can result in potential side effects and complications due to its anatomy. Therefore it is vital for the patient to use the services of only experienced, qualified aesthetic doctors or plastic surgeons to minimize the risk of problems.

An intimate familiarity with the human anatomy, quality product selection, patient assessment, suitable patient selection and very importantly, good injection technique is very important in ensuring good results.

Hands-on Derma Veil Injection Session

Dr Kee Yong Seng and Dr Aarthi Maria Francis, our two experienced aesthetic doctors from Premier Clinic Kuala Lumpur, were in Hong Kong for a Derma Veil workshop in September 2014. Our doctors injected volunteers with Derma Veil which can restore the patient’s youthfulness.

Facial fillers, also known as dermal fillers, are injectable substances which can be used to restore volume, lift the skin and improve sagging and wrinkles. Some fillers can be used to augment facial features such as making the nose sharper, chin and jawline more defined, or making the lips fuller.

Derma Veil is a type of filler which can be Injected on the face, and also other body parts which need volume restoration such as the hands. Anywhere there are sunken areas, wrinkles and fine lines, Derma Veil stimulates collagen production to fill in the area, thus diminishing the aged appearance. The results of Derma Veil can last 1 and a half years or so. The longevity of the results actually depends on a number of factors, such as your age, your original skin texture, your genetics and also your lifestyle such as whether you eat healthily, exercise regularly, avoid smoking and drinking excessively, the quality of your skincare products and whether you are exposed to the sun excessively.

Derma Veil is a synthetic fillers made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). They work by stimulating collagen production at the treated areas.

Before injection, the doctor will apply some topical numbing cream to decrease any potential discomfort. Lidocaine, which is a numbing medicine, is mixed with Derma Veil to block out any pain. Derma Veil has some minimum downtime, such as mild redness, swelling or bruising. These subside in a few days.

At least two sessions would be needed to give the optimal results. For those who are older or have more volume loss or wrinkles, more sessions may be required. A treatment session can be performed once every 3 weeks.

Derma Veil Workshop in Hong Kong

Our aesthetic physicians, Dr Kee Yong Seng and Dr Aarthi Maria Francis were invited to attend a Derma Veil workshop in Hong Kong. Our two aesthetic doctors were in Hong Kong from 9 to 11 September 2014. The Derma Veil workshop was attended by numerous aesthetic doctors from all over the world who were keen on being updated on this latest anti-aging procedure.

Derma Veil is an aesthetic product which helps to reduce wrinkles and signs of aging. It is an injectable product. Derma Veil helps to reduce and repair damage to the skin which is caused by the aging process and too much sunlight exposure. Derma Veil helps to hydrate our skin. It also helps to restore our skin’s volume and reduces  outward imperfections such as wrinkles and scars.

The main ingredient of Derma Veil is  glycolic acid (GA) which is bound to polylactic acid (PLA). The slow dissolution of the product means that there is prolonged action on our skin, thus increasing the lifetime of its beneficial effect.

Derma Veil is compatible with the human body and will be fully removed from our body over time by our own natural processes. The product does not remain permanently in our body, but is able to stimulate our own natural collagen production. This collagen production helps to reduce wrinkles, adds volume and gives us a more youthful appearance.

A minimum of two sessions and up to five sessions may be required for the best results. A session can be performed once every 3 weeks. The actual injection takes less than 10 minutes.

A patient would have topical numbing cream applied onto the skin for at least half an hour before the procedure to reduce any potential discomfort. The Derma Veil product is mixed with lidocaine which is an anesthetic agent to further make the procedure more comfortable.

There may be some mild swelling, redness, discomfort or bruising for the next few days after the procedure. Make-up can be applied to hide the appearance of redness. Ice packs can be used to reduce the mild swelling. Usually these side effects go off completely within a week. You may resume your normal activities such as going to work or the gym after the procedure.
