Subcision For Acne Scar Reduction

Acne scars are a nightmare to most people,  be it male or female.  Many Malaysians feel very conscious about their appearance if they suffer from acne scars, especially if the scars are prominent and highly visible.

Acne scars appear when someone has pimples,  which causes an inflammatory reaction from our body.  Our body fights the infection or inflammation from acne, which eventually results in the formation of scars.

The scars can be especially prominent if one tends to squeeze or pick on the pimples,  which potentially can worsen the condition.

No matter how much facial or beauty salon treatments you do,  the deep acne scars won’t seem to go away.

Deeper scars need more aggressive treatments.  One such treatment at Premier Clinic is called subcision,  which is what our clinic manager Miss Dya underwent here.  Our Premier Clinic’s aesthetic doctor at Jalan Telawi, Bangsar, Dr Aarthi Maria performed this simple procedure on her.

First, numbing cream containing lidocaine is applied for half an hour to make the procedure more comfortable.  Next, the face is properly cleansed. A sterile needle is used to break the scar tissue which is pulling the skin underneath and causing the appearance of deep ice-pick scars.

By breaking the scar tissue, the underlying tissue is lifted and is stimulated to produce collagen.  This collagen helps to make the skin appear more even and smoother.

A series of treatment would give better results. Subcision can be combined with other treatments such as laser or Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP).

More details on subcision for pimple scars can be viewed on this page.

Mineral Make-up After Laser

Are all brands of make-up suitable for you to use after your laser session? Frankly, no,  as unsuitable make-up can clog the pores and may be too harsh for your skin immediately after you had a session of laser. Lasers can make your skin temporarily more sensitive for a few days, so it is best to avoid anything harsh.

Mineral make-up is an excellent choice for after-laser use. It’s not harsh as it does not contain any sensitising ingredients. It doesn’t clog the pores as well.

Blogger Miss Eugene Ng loved the mineral make-up applied for her at Premier Clinic after her skin tightening and fine hair removal laser. Dr Elaine Chong performed these two lasers without downtime and discomfort.

Skin Tags & Mole Removal Laser

One of the benefits of working at Premier Clinic is that our wonderful staff gets free aesthetic treatments. We want our doctors, beauty therapists and managers to look good obviously.  And by experiencing our treatments first hand,  our staff can explain the procedure process to our customers accurately.

Our staff Jessica is pictured here having a session of moles and skin tags removal. Though harmless and non-cancerous,  moles and skin tags can increase in size and number and can be unsightly.

Dr Elaine Chong of Premier Clinic uses the Erbium YAG laser component of the Fotona Spectro machine to quickly zap away any skin lesions.

There would be some redness with mild scabbing for a couple of days.  Scarring and infection are rare.  Most lesions can be cleared in 1 or 2 sessions of Erbium YAG laser. CO2 laser can also be used for the same purpose.

Find out about our skin lesion removal at here.

Solar Lentigo & Pigmentation Laser Demo

Solar lentigo are a kind of pigmentation which is worsened when one is exposed to too much sunlight. Aging and genetics are also factors which can worsen this condition.

Solar lentigo are caused by localised proliferation of melanocytes,  or cells which produces pigments. They usually arise when a person is middle aged and are worsened by sun damage. They are often found on the face and hands since these areas are most exposed to direct sunlight. They are larger and more defined than freckles. They tend to be present for long periods.

Our volunteer Mr Azam and Miss Madziatun visited Dr Aarthi Maria for a session of Fotona q-Switch Nd:YAG laser which is useful for treating this benign skin condition. Miss Madziatun was also keen to whiten her skin complexion,  which can be helped by using the Q-Switch laser.

The laser works by breaking up melanin into small fragments.  Our body’s immune system will then remove the broken up melanin fragments and remove it naturally from our body.  Thus the pigmentation lightens over time.

Read about Q-Switch lasers for pigmentation removal here.

Premier Clinic strives to give our best service and results. Therefore it is important for our doctors and beauty therapists to enhance their skills all the time.

Premier Clinic sends our aesthetic doctors to talks,  hands-on workshops,  seminars and training sessions regularly,  several times each month as there are always  updates in technology and new procedures coming up. It is vital for our doctors to keep abreast with the latest methods in aesthetics.

Our doctors,  namely Dr Kee Yong Seng,  Dr Chen Tai Ho,  Dr Elaine Chong and Dr Aarthi Maria have been to United Kingdom,  Italy,  France,  Singapore, Monaco,  Thailand and Philippines to attend the various aesthetic courses and workshops. We also attend numerous workshops locally in Malaysia.

Besides attending these trainings outside, Premier Clinic also regularly conduct our own in house workshops just for our doctors and staff including managers,  beauty consultants,  beauty therapists and receptionists to ensure they know our procedures and standard operating protocols inside out.

On 10 November 2014,  we had our hyaluronic acid dermal fillers workshop whereby our doctors injected dermal fillers to enhance the forehead,  lips,  under-eye region,  nose and chin on our volunteer Evonne.

Dermal fillers are gel-like substances which are biocompatible. They give excellent results with minimal downtime and can last up to one and a half years.

Blogger Clarissa’s Skin Refining Session

Blogger Clarissa is keen to have a skin refining laser done by our Premier Clinic aesthetic doctor, Dr Elaine Chong. Clarissa knows that the skin refining laser is a laser which helps to maintain youthful looks by stimulating collagen production.

The Fotona Spectro laser machine utilizes Fractional Erbium YAG laser beams to create controlled minute damages to the top layer of the skin. This damage is actually a good thing, as it stimulates our own body to repair the skin ‘injured’ by the laser.

The end result is diminished fine lines and wrinkles, smaller pore size and tighter skin. The refining laser setting is different from those who prefer a stronger and more aggressive rejuvenation setting. This is an excellent choice for those who prefer minimal or lesser downtime and discomfort.

Dr Elaine Chong performed this simple procedure on Miss Clarissa today, with minimal pain and redness. The procedure takes less than 10 minutes for the actual laser. This can be repeated monthly for the best results.

Groin Fungal Infection Laser Treatment

Skin fungal infection can present itself as an area of skin discolouration with or without itch. The condition is usually infectious as well as chronic, meaning patients could have been having it for years. Many people do not seek treatment early enough for this treatable skin condition, which can result in the condition worsening.

Besides oral anti-fungal drugs such as ketoconazole and fluconazole, or creams such as miconazole, laser treatments can also be performed using a Long Pulse Nd:YAG laser which causes heating, thereby killing off the fungi on the skin.

Usually combination treatments works the best, so besides using lasers, your doctor may also combine the treatment with oral anti-fungal medicines and creams. Several sessions of laser, done once a month, would be necessary.

It is also important to maintain good skin hygiene and to keep the treatment area dry all the time.

Dr Elaine Chong performed a laser treatment for a demo subject using the Long Pulse Nd:YAG laser for Mr Mustafa who has been having the fungal infection for a long time. Mustafa works long hours, and combined with the tendency to sweat at the groin area, he developed a fungal infection. The painless laser performed by Dr Elaine Chong of Premier Clinic only takes 10 minutes.

Permanent Laser Hair Removal Demo Day

Hair today, gone tomorrow they say. Well, not exactly gone tomorrow as several sessions of hair removal laser is necessary to permanently reduce unwanted hair growth.

Premier Clinic knows that many ladies and an increasing number of men out there are tired of shaving, waxing and tweezing their unwanted hair. Wouldn’t it be time and cost saving to finally get rid of those unwanted hair for once? And not to mention the inconvenience and even pain of do-it-yourself hair removal at home.

Dr Aarthi Maria, Dr Elaine Chong and Dr Kee Yong Seng can certainly testify to the popularity of hair removal via lasers such as the Long Pulse Nd:YAG beams produced by laser machines such as the Fotona Spectro and the Candela GentleYAG. Both of these cutting-edge machines work by destroying hair follicles, which are the roots which grow hair.

Hair grows in stages and the lasers can only work on hair in the actively-growing stage. Since at any one time, some of the hair would be in the resting stage where the lasers have no effect, it would be necessary to get several laser several sessions of laser done, once a month. This is to catch the hair follicle when it goes into the growing stage.

Hair removal lasers are thankfully not painful and gives no downtime. So you can have your hair permanently zapped away but still sashay away at your gym dance class or attend a romantic dinner on the very same night as your laser session.

Skin Tightening Performed on Wendy and Toh

What would a person do to combat the signs of aging? A lot apparently, as many people would be willing to undergo major facelift surgery to tighten their sagging facial skin. Whilst a facelift operation can produce excellent results, they tend to cause a lot of pain, redness, swelling, bruising and a long downtime. One also has to contend with the risk of general anesthesia as well, and infection to boot.

For this reason, a rising number of Malaysians are opting for non-surgical approaches to skin tightening and lifting.

Premier Clinic offers a variety of skin tightening methods to choose from. We have Ultherapy which employs high intensity focused ultrasound, threadlift and long pulse Nd:YAG lasers such as the Candela GentleYAG and the Fotona Spectro laser.

We were fortunate to have a couple of volunteer friends, Miss Toh and Wendy coming to try out our latest Fotona Spectro laser. Long Pulse Nd:YAG laser beams are directed to the deep layers of the skin to stimulate collagen production. This is turn helps to lift the skin. Jowls, fine lines and wrinkles are reduced
slowly over time.

A couple of session would be required for best results. Results last for 1.5 years or so, depending on one’s lifestyle and genes. The good thing about this laser is that you can always opt for more sessions in the future as it is affordable, safe and has no downtime whatsoever.
