WHAT CAUSES ACNE?
This is one of the common skin conditions today, with the majority of of 11-30 year olds have experienced acne at some point in time. Younger men are more susceptible to developing acne due to the presence of higher levels of testosterone which can worsen it. It is a common occurrence during puberty but many adults are also affected by it.
The pores in our skin are connected by follicles which are pathways for oil glands underneath the skin. These glands produce sebum – a natural liquid used to eliminate dead skin cells from our bodies. When a build-up of sebum blocks these follicles, pimples begin to grow and form and leads to acne and acne scarring.
WHAT IS LED LIGHT THERAPY?
Restoring youthfulness to your skin, light therapy is an increasingly popular anti-aging technique which helps to produce natural looking results. It boosts the cellular functions in the body which can speed up the healing and rejuvenation of the skin, and is of the ideal wavelength. The light is powerful enough to penetrate deep into the area required, and can also be used to treat several conditions simultaneously.
This technology has also been used by doctors and various governmental organisations to regenerate muscle and heal wounds. It is non-invasive and does not harm the skin, and is known to be a safe procedure. It increases the production of collagen and elastin in your skin and stimulates the regeneration of connective tissue, which helps to reduce acne and acne scarring. There is also a very low likelihood of physical trauma or thermal damage from using this treatment and is suitable for patients of all ages.
HOW IT WORKS
Similar to the process of photosynthesis, your body needs sunlight in order to form adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is used as fuel for metabolic processes that synthesis essential proteins, enzymes and more. The tissue also uses ATP to catalyse the process of healing and rejuvenation in the specific treatment area.
Results can be dependent on your physical condition, age, diet and lifestyle. Changes may require up to 8-10 treatments before they are noticeable, but some patients have reported visible improvements almost immediately, but this varies from person to person. After each session, you will notice a gradual improvement which allows you to gauge the difference before and after each treatment.
